Jean-Honoré lived very near, in the Paroisse St-Eustache, and Marguerite's parish, St-Germain L'Auxerrois, was just across the street, near what is today the Musée du Louvre. I think, like all the other Filles du Roi, and the strong and independant women who came after her, that she was an amazing woman who lived in Québec (Neuville) more than 12 generations ago!
Michèle BeaudryAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16105861351805448270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8687824161583211670.post-88351867015091025282020-05-21T19:13:19.517-07:002020-05-21T19:13:19.517-07:00I heard that is was my grandfather that gave him a...I heard that is was my grandfather that gave him a lift and was a witness at the trial. I'm struggling to clear up a discrepancy on a genealogy tree. My Uncle Clifford is listed as still living. Thet would make him 109 years old now. My father would be 113 if he were still alive. He died when I was like 2 weeks shy of 20. Cancer. Anyway glad to find this blog. Aunt "Minnie" died at the age of 102 in 1991. My late father, Allan Gratton used to share many tales about Aunt "Minnie" visiting them in the early 1930s. I was told she she a good sense of humour and a vivid imagination.

One anecdote was that she once disguised herself as a hobo with soot on her face and old clothes when she paid a visit to the Gratton family in Cobalt, Ontario. The younger kids were terrified by the potato bag she carried thinking that they'd be shoved into it and carried away by this scary hobo!

I enjoy reading your blog entries - so many wonderful stories about our ancestors!

Cheers :)

JamesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8687824161583211670.post-23780277254052341962019-05-22T19:46:55.594-07:002019-05-22T19:46:55.594-07:00Hi Yvonne. My Dad, John Bies, was hopping freights from the west through Hearst in 1930 when he was thrown off the train by CNR policeman Tiggan. He hung around for two days, finally walked 20 miles to Mattice but when waiting to board the train there he was again chased out of town by Tiggan and the Hearst Town police who he referred to as "the long one Desgroselliers".

I have been researchig Hearst history for ten years, heve written many stories and have tons of files, including a listing of all the town police from day one in 1922.

Your Dad was the fourth town constable from Dec. 19, 1927 to Feb. 20, 1928. Appointed Police Chief from Feb 20, 1928 to Dec, 27, 1934. and again fromAug. 19, 1952 to Feb. 7, 1953.

Hope that helps fill in some blanks.
